TraderInterviews.com: Hello everybody. Welcome back to TraderInterviews.com. Thanks very much for joining us for another show this week. Our guest today is trader Patrick Heminger. He is an equity index trader. We're going to talk to him about his strategies and how he approaches the markets and finds opportunities each day. So, Patrick, thanks very much for joining us on the show today.
Patrick Hemminger: Thanks Tim. I appreciate you having me.
TraderInterviews.com: I usually sort of briefly asking you how you got into trading in the first place. So, a lot of traders come from a whole bunch of different backgrounds. And so, what's your story?
Patrick Hemminger: Sure. I started in 1999. I was based in Denver, Colorado, not necessarily a mecca of trading but I got a position with Merrill Lynch and I would have to admit that before my position with Merrill, I probably couldn't confidently read a quote on Microsoft in the paper. But, you know, through a lot of reading and self study, I was able to get to a position where I was confident enough to trade and I was given a chance to trade with a firm located in Broomfield, Colorado.
TraderInterviews.com: Broomfield, there was another gentleman that came I think from Broomfield. It was…he wrote a book, David, something.
Patrick Hemminger: Yes, David Nassar, I traded for a firm of his in Broomfield and he, at the time, was able to sell his company to a company located in Chicago and from there a director. The company was MarketWise and a director from MarketWise branched off and started his own broker dealer and I was able to latch on with him.
TraderInterviews.com: All right. So, let's get right into your overall philosophy of trading. Do you consider yourself a technical trader, or fundamentals? What is it for you?
