So our guest today is Mark Longo.
He is the founder of TheOptionsInsider.com. We're visiting his site today. He's got a lot of great information on options and specifically the VIX, which is what I want to kind of focus on in today's interview. We're going to ask him about that and maybe a little about his background. And the fact that we're recording this on Election Day for the presidential election and a whole variety of other stuff gives you some context about where we are with the markets at the time we're recording this interview. So Mark, thanks very much for joining us on the show today.
Mark Longo: Thank you for having me.
TraderInterviews.com: Well, the first question I always ask people is what's your background? How did you get into the trading game?
Mark Longo: Well, my background is I was a member of the Chicago Board Options Exchange for a number of years and while I was out there I was a market maker. I traded primarily SPX, which is the S&P 500 options. I then migrated out in the late '90s when a lot of the multiple listings happened on the various exchanges and I started trading equity options, primarily Intel at that time.
I left the floor about a week before 9/11, so from a position standpoint it actually was good timing. And I traded on my own for a number of years and then I started getting into writing about and commenting on trading as well. I started up a column for Traders Magazine about options trading.
