TraderInterviews.com: Hello everybody. Welcome back to TraderInterviews.com. Thanks very much for joining us for another show this week. We're going to be speaking with Roland Campbell and he's a trader who trades on news. We talk to a lot of technical analysis traders, people who use charts and indicators of all kinds to trade and I think Roland does that a bit but he also trades mostly on what he sees in terms of the news. So we're going to talk to him about that. So Roland thanks very much for joining us on the show today.
Roland Campbell: Thank you for having me Tim.
TraderInterviews.com: Well, I guess talk about your background. We always start there. How did you get into trading in the first place?
Roland Campbell: I started out trading in equities. I got in right about 2000 when the market was starting to break. I'm sort of a contrarian trader at heart. So, it was a good time for me to enter. I started shorting stocks and did pretty well with that. Once the volatility left the market, I decided to start trading options. I was looking for a little bit more action and to learn more about the financial markets. And eventually, I started looking into currencies, gold, commodities, and decided that was the right place for me.
TraderInterviews.com: What is it about those markets that you feel is going to suit you as a trader?
Roland Campbell: Well, the volatility is there. The liquidity is there. The technicals are a lot easier to follow. Generally, the patterns tend to continue on. It's just the market that seems to have a lot of different participants and large traders, small traders; they give me a huge variety of things to work with. So, I really enjoyed the foreign exchange market the most.
